For a lighter style, start with the ghosts: a pale subject against pink stays easy to recognize. For a classic Halloween look, the pumpkin and haunted house use strong silhouettes and orange tones. For something you may want to keep beyond October, the black-cat and moth designs are more understated.
If you prefer the existing purple-night illustrations, look for a clear subject and a balanced crop. The strongest scene is the one you can still understand at card size.
Match the artwork to your card cover
Choose Full Cover for the largest artwork area, Full Cover w/ Window when the number row aligns with the window, or Half Cover to leave the lower part of the card uncovered. Check where your number, name and expiry date sit; layouts vary between issuers.
Full Cover gives the new illustrations the most room. On Half Cover, confirm the subject is not cut off. The window option needs the number row to align with your real card. Use the cover-style comparison if you are unsure.
